Peacework Quilt
Someone once told me it was better to have one hawk than 100 doves. I disagreed. Years later, remembering that conversation , I made this woodcut quilt . . . with symbolism implied.
Peacework Quilt was made from 100 (2" x 2") woodcuts pasted onto handmade Yamaguchi Kozo paper. Each dove was cut and printed from blocks of basswood plywood before becoming part of the collage. The border of the "quilt" was also printed from wood with the printed image then cut and pasted onto the Kozo.
